HT-647 Towbar Assembly

The HT-647 towbar assembly is a multi-functional application towbar for use on the UH-60, AH-64, and CH-47 aircraft. It is a durable yet lightweight assembly that can be disassembled quickly, or folded for stowage in aircraft for deployment purposes. It is equipped with a shock attenuation towing pintle eye to reduce shock impact on aircraft from the towing vehicle, and is equipped with a positive locking, spring-loaded hook-up point for attachment to aircraft. A repair kit is also provided with replacement parts in the event of damage to the assembly.

The model HT-60A is a lightweight aluminum tow bar designed for everyday ramp use and can be quickly broken down into two pieces for easy transport. Pneumatic wheels take the hassle out of moving to and from the aircraft. This tow bar can be used for towing both the UH-60 and the AH-64. To change from one configuration to the other requires only repositioning the adjustable wheel alignment pin. This takes less that 1 minute. The assembled overall length is 12 feet. This allows turning clearance for the horizontal stabilizer when using a Hummer as a tow vehicle.

Towbar attaches to right rear wheel with convenient-to-use spring-loaded slide pin and auxiliary tow head attaches to left rear wheel and a tie rod is pinned between the two tow heads. This allows both tow heads to turn equally in the same direction at the same time. No more manual turning of the left wheel is required. Unit stows easily for transporting to and from the helicopter. The HT-47S breaks down into easy-to-handle parts to carry aboard helicopter or vehicle.
